Child Online Safety

  • Child online safety awareness has been implemented by Zain South Sudan
  • In 2023, an agreement was reached with International Child helpline to address child protection issues facing children in South Sudan.
  • Installing CSAM blocking mechanisms within our networks across Zain markets 

Youth Unemployment

  • Two MoUs under review by two universities to enhance (Internship, Women in Technology, Fun team support)
  • Zain looks to employ individuals from the ranks of the unemployed, advertising such openings on social media

Digital Literacy

  • We are working with the Ministry of General Education regarding digital literacy policy development
  • By 2025, the aim is to have 1,500 youth equipped with digital skills

Environmental Footprint: Climate Change

Waste Reduction

  • Over 1 ton of plastic water bottles have been re-used by requesting staff do not dump the material
  • Use of Guffa environmentally-friendly material was introduced in 2023 to eliminate use of plastic dust-bins
  • Supply chain management monitoring and physical inventory visits are conducted on Zain warehouses
  • Over a ton of outdated hybrid tower equipment is estimated to require disposal

Public Awareness

  • BE WELL awareness conducted online for 112 Zain staff and 271 partners
  • Health and wellbeing general assembly awareness conducted for 112 Zain staff
  • During Internet Monsters Child Online Safety Campaign, 93,037 people were reached, 2,752 reactions, and 66 positive comments
  • 57 were reached in Zain South Sudan’s social media campaign on climate change awareness

Water Consumption

  • The size of bottled water distributed in Zain offices has been reduced from 600ml to 500ml and the use of dispensers, increased
  • Two water flowmeters are yet to be installed for two solar motorized systems, to reduce water consumption and improve utilization.
  • The water consumption per month has reduced in Zain’s headquarters in Juba
